WEEK 2: ACTION
TIME TO GET ACTIVE

Start doing things differently
Now that you’re aware, it’s time to act.
This week focuses on small, practical changes you can make immediately. Nothing extreme, just simple decisions that reduce waste in your daily life.
You’ll begin replacing, refusing, and rethinking everyday choices. These are the habits that start creating real impact.
meet your challenges

Day 8 – No Single-Use Plastic Day
Avoid single-use plastic for 24 hours.
That means saying no to things like:
Plastic water bottles.
Disposable cups.
Plastic straws.
Plastic cutlery.
Takeaway lids.
Instead, try small swaps:
Carry a reusable water bottle.
Use your own mug.
Skip the straw.
Choose reusable whenever possible.
You might be surprised how often plastic shows up in one day.
Small choices, repeated daily, create lasting habits.
Did you complete your plastic-free day?

Day 9 - Bring Your Own Bag
Bring your own bag.
Anytime you buy something today, refuse plastic bags and use a reusable one instead.
Groceries.
Pharmacy items.
Clothes.
Even small purchases.
Keep a reusable bag in your backpack, car or purse so it’s always with you.
Plastic bags are used for minutes but stay in the environment for years.
One small habit can prevent hundreds of bags from being used over time.
Did you bring your own bag today?

Day 10 - Repair Instead of Replace
Repair something instead of replacing it.
Look around you. Is there something broken or worn out that could be fixed?
A loose button.
A torn piece of clothing.
A small appliance.
A bag with a broken zipper.
A cracked object that can be glued.
Instead of throwing it away, take a few minutes to repair it.
Many things we discard could easily be fixed. Repairing extends the life of products and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills.
Fixing what we already have is one of the most powerful ways to reduce waste.
What did you repair today?

Day 11 - Reusable Switch
Make one reusable switch.
Choose one item you normally use once and throw away and replace it with a reusable option.
For example:
Plastic water bottle → reusable bottle
Plastic shopping bags → cloth tote
Disposable coffee cup → reusable mug
Paper towels → reusable cloth
Plastic food containers → glass containers
Long-term swaps reduce waste far more than temporary efforts.
What reusable switch did you make today?

Day 12 - No Online Shopping
For the next 24 hours, avoid online shopping and impulse purchases.
No scrolling shopping apps.
No “just because it’s on sale” buys.
No quick checkout decisions.
Instead, take a moment to reflect:
Do we always need the things we buy?
Every product comes with packaging, shipping, and resources used to produce it.
Today is simply about awareness and control.
If you see something you want to buy, wait.
Add it to a list and revisit it later.
You might realize you didn’t need it after all.
Did you resist the urge to shop today?

Day 13 - Leftover Rescue
Got leftovers in your fridge? Don’t throw them away! Today, get creative:
Combine them into a new dish.
Transform yesterday’s meal into something fresh.
Share your creation with others if you want.
At the end of the day, snap a photo of your new meal or write down what you made.
Every bit of food saved counts!
